50's or 60's Film: 2 Men Stay in Abandoned House

My dad was asking if I knew the name of this 50's or 60's movie; the plot sounds familiar but I can't think of what it is.

Two men need a place to stay for the night, so they go to an abandoned old house. They stay in a sleeping bag or something on the floor, and during the night one man wakes up and his friend is gone. He then sees his friend coming down the stairs with an axe.
