80's Film Where Teenage Boy Turns to Monster to Defeat Demon

I'm looking for an 80's film about a group teens heading to a family cabin, and along the way they drive through a fog that takes them back in time.
When they reach the cabin, ghouls or zombies attack. In the end, one of the teens - a male - learns of his family's past and turns into a monster to defeat the demon.
