THE 100 Greatest Horror Movies of All Time

Every year, since the 2006 humble beginnings of Best-Horror-Movies.com, the 100 Greatest Horror Movies list has been the hub. The list has been called many things (100 BEST Horror Movies, The Top 100 Horror Movies) and now we present:

The 100 GREATEST Horror movies.

In the early days the list was created based on the favorites of a few horror fans, but in 2007 BHM instituted a highly scientific Rating Methodology.

This year the Methodology has been slightly improved to favor the horror classics, and the pool of horror greats has expanded.

The 100 Greatest Horror Movies List for 2008 includes the Classics, Creature Features, Foreign (non-U.S.) Horror, Hammer Horror and Independents making it the most COMPLETE and ACCURATE horror movie Best-Of list ever created. Check it out!.

Horror New Releases, February 2008

Descent - Everything I've read about this one SCREAMS horror-porn. Rape, psychosis, revenge...you know, the usual.

The Invasion (Combo HD DVD and Standard DVD) - I'm glad that someone thought of combining the standard DVD with an HD DVD. Now about the movie... great stab at the classic tale, and then it got preachy.

Dark Shadows: The Beginning Episodes 71-105 - This series is very popular on DVD. Can someone contact me and fill me in on what the fuss is about?

Storm Warning - I can't wait for this one! It is supposed to be very good and gory, and I'll do a review as soon as I get my hands on this.

German Expressionism Collection (4pc) - Four German silent Horror Films. I'll tell ya... I think I'm going to get this one so that I can round out my "horror freakdom".

Catacombs - Straight to DVD thriller about a woman who goes to a crazy party in the tunnels below Paris. Hmmm, urban The Descent?

Gabriel - Another straight to DVD horror flick, this time about the Arc Angel Gabriel coming to Purgatory to fight the darkness of human desire...

Weirdsville - As if wanting to dump the body of your dead girlfriend in the basement of a movie theater isn't weird enough... this basement is also the meeting place for the local satanic cult.

The Living Dead at Manchester Morgue - So, if I were traveling and happened upon a small town with undead wandering around, I'd consider one of those "all inclusives" in Cabo.

Naked Beneath the Water [HD DVD] - cool concept for a film about a reality show where people video tape their murders and compete for "killer of the year". So, clearly eating worms wasn't enough for these folks.

Killer Pad - Some dudes move into a haunted house in Hollywood Hills. Aren't they all? Directed by Freddy Krueger himself Robert Englund.

Psychotronica Collection 1(Delinquent Schoolgirls / Dream No Evil / Mondokeyhole / The Raw Ones / The Mermaids of Tiburon / Cry of the Bewitched - Okay, I know nothing about "Psychotronica" but I suspect I should. Anyone care to enlighten me?

Spiral - Horror by the director and star of Hatchet. Well, I hated Hatchet, and I hope this is better.

Deadhouse - I don't know anything about this film other than it's released by Brain Damage Films, known for low budget offerings. I've reviewed a ton of these, and they are either diamonds in the rough or terrible.

Psychotronica, Vol. 3: Mermaids of Tiburon/Cry of the Bewitched - Psychotronica again? I still don't know about it, but I do know that this collection has nude mermaids. What happened to number 2 anyway?...

Nightmare Detective - Japanese and subtitled, so I'm sure it's dark. The Japanese "do dark" very well.

Furnace (Unrated) - Prison, vengeful spirits and Danny Trejo - sounds like an old fashioned 70s film... just missing Starsky and Hutch.

Vampire Triple Feature: Central Park Drifter/Fiancee of Dracula/Two Orphan Vampires - I love vampire movies, and I've never heard of any of these. Is this another example of my failings, or are they really psudo-unknowns? Let me know...

Sabbath - This film promises Zombie Goodness. I hope it lives up.

Phantom Empire - This Gene Autry film from 1935 was billed as "the first musical western" and has monsters, sci-fi and horror to boot. Golly!

Doomsday: The Sinking of Japan - Japan is going to sink into the ocean - why? Because of plate movement in the West, of course. It's all about me.

Home Made - Follow the challenges of your friendly neighborhood Snuff Film Maker. And the neighbors always said he was so quiet...

Bone Sickness - A guy gets a disease that turns him into a "worm infested ghoul" yet his dutiful wife pulls a Tammy Wynette and stands by him. Ah, amore.

The Sick & Twisted Horror Of Joanna Angel - February is the month of love, which explains all the horror-porn coming out this month! This one has Re-Penetrator and XXXorcist, both uncut for your sicko-minds enjoyment.

Crime Fiction - How many moronic journalists would commit murder so that they can get a scoop? I bet there are a few. What do you think Geraldo?

Frankenstein's Bloody Nightmare - The descriptions of this film sound like a mix between Frankenstein and May.

Comment Thread of the Month

Horror 2.0 is alive and well, although chasing panty-clad lovelies through the woods. A young lady named Connie, from Margate, FL, USA decided to put her Horror Movie List out in the world for all to see, and people certainly had things to say about what they saw. Check Out What People Had to Say.

The moral of the story for all of us is... if you have a Horror Movie List in your head, Share It!

Newest Horror Movie Reviews from BHM

J-Horror Anthology: Underworld - This is a reader-submitted review by Janetheaxeweildingmaniac, and typically reviews submitted by an unsolicited reader are not spotlighted (though appreciated). This one, on the other hand, is exceptionally detailed and deserves a look.

Untraceable - Reviewed by our own Horror Queen, this one takes a look at the brutal capabilities of man.

Marebito is reviewed by the BHM superstar The Zombie Master. This one stands it's ground against the best of J-Horror.

Cloverfield was highly anticipated and had a TON of viral Internet marketing associated with it. Read what the Horror Queen had to say.

The Orphanage is considered by our Queen to be one of the best horror movies she's ever seen, in spite of the subtitles.

One Missed Call is the last review by our beloved Horror Queen for the month, and based on this one I'm glad that she had to watch the flick so we don't have to.

Solstice - Written by yours truly (The Horror Czar Don Sumner), this one details the newest film from the creators of The Blair Witch Project. Read on to hear the real scoop.

The Horror Brain Trust Rocks the World!

From the beginning of Best-Horror-Movies.com, the vast majority of emails I received sounded something like this:
Hello, I remember this movie from when I was like, 8 years old, and it had this old lady and teenagers and there was a big monster that threw pancakes. Do you know what that movie is?

Now, sometimes I knew the movie they were talking about and sometimes not. Then I thought...

Leverage the Horror Brilliance of BHM visitors! Horror Movie Questions, or Horror Brain Trust was born.
