Horror Movie DVD releases: May 2006

When A Stranger Calls (2006, Directed by Simon West)
Remake of the 1979 film (Directed by Fred Walton) of the same name. Reviews are not good...general concensus is that Fred did it better.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer (Series) (Seasons 1-7)
Although Buffy was in a very funny movie with the same name...we're talking about a release of the full seasons of the series here. Kind of cheating, but hey...

Bloodrayne (2005, Directed by Uwe Boll)
Uwe Boll is the official horror movie "whipping boy" because his movies generally aren't good (The only movie I've EVER walked out on in a theater was an Uwe Boll movie...) Response to this one is no better - reviews are terrible for this screen adaptation of a semi-popular video game about vampires.

BTK Killer (2006, Directed by Ulli Lommel)
Supposed to be a fearsome telling of the "reign of terror" of the BTK killer. I haven't seen it, but the reviews are not good.

Tales from the Crypt: Ritual (no additional information)
I hate to admit this, but I couldn't find additional information about this by press time...and I got tired of looking.

What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962, Directed by Robert Aldrich)
This is an absolute classic with Bette Davis and Joan Crawford. This release is for the widescreen special addition and is one that should be in your collection.

Trespassers (2006, Directed by Ian McCrudden)
Haven't seen it, but it seems that some American teenagers in Mixico happen upon a cursed beach ridden with zombies. Promising. Reviews are missed, generally that the movie is good but that there's not enough gore. I wonder if the Zombie Master Lee Roberts has seen this one...

It Waits (2005, Directed by Steven R. Monroe)
"Native American Legend comes to life". Yeah, right. This one has terrible reviews...but then I don't always agree with the reviewers. Still, I think I'll pass...

Masters of Horror ("Incident on and off a mountain road directed by Don Coscarelli and "Chocolate" directed by Nick Garris)
I have been generally happy with the "Mastes of Horror". I missed them on Showtime, but I've bought them as they come out and they are all pretty darn good so far. Wayne LOVED "Incident" when he watched it last night...

Tamara (2005, Directed by Jeremy Haft)
The reviews have been mixed, but I thought it was pretty good. School dork (and also, btw, a witch) comes back as a murderous vixen to exact revenge. I have written a review, but won't post until after tomorrow when I interview the writer (Jeffry Reddick, who also wrote "Final Destination" and is working on a Romero remake as we speak).

Cannibal (2006, Directed by Daniel Roby )
Beautiful woman has a strange habit - she devours men to retain her eternal beauty. Ths one has won the City TV award for best Canadian First Feature and the Toronto International Film Festival award.

Horror Movie Reviews

We have added some great reviews of horror movies on DVD this month! Some new additions as well as some classics (and, of course, the Zombie Master Lee has added some zombie action!)

Wolf Creek was reviewed by yours truly. I reported that the DVD had some out last month and that I would race to watch it. Glad I did.

Valentine movie review shows us what happens when the Zombie Master HATES a movie...

Slither has gotten great reviews, and some that said the movie SUCKED. I found Slither right in the middle of that. Read the review without all the drama...

Zombi 2 - did you think we were going to go an entire month without a review of a zombie classic from Lee? Read why Lee says that Zombi 2 is 'essential viewing' for future Zombie Masters.

Best-Horror-Movies.com partners with MovieLink!

You may notice as you browse the site that several of the movies mentioned and reviewed have a "Download NOW!" link. This is because we've worked with MovieLink to provide the cutting edge of horror - right on your computer or television. I'm going to download movies for my laptop for the many trips I take...give it a try! You can browse for yourself at this link: Movielink(R)−Downloadable  movies are here.

The set-up takes a few minutes, but it's worth it.
