Best-Horror-Movies.com Hits 1 Million Monthly Pageviews!
Best-Horror-Movies.com continues to remain one of the last fully independent communities for horror movie freaks... the way things look, we may also be the most popular! One Million monthly is quite a milestone, and we have you to thank.
BHM continues to work diligently to deliver the BEST in horror, for the Discerning Horror Freak... and it is gratifying to know that for so many horror freaks, we're hitting the mark!
Oh, and... I don't know if I am supposed to mention this yet, but BHM is going to extend the quest to crush the dreaded Horror Intelligencia beyond the web, into print in a book called, appropriately, Horror Movie Freak! We will keep you posted and the book writer's blog is about to start. This is going to be GREAT with a ton of great images, good horror films, remake nation, scream queens and lots more.

Horror DVD New Releases for October 2009
Trick 'r Treat - VERY highly anticipated, with a few false-starts on both theatrical and DVD release. Let's see if it lives up to the hype.
Drag Me to Hell [Blu-ray] - Raimi back to his roots. There was a lot of bitching about this being PG-13, but we liked it at BHM. Horror Queen's Review Here.
Blood Ties: Season Two - It appears that we won't get tired of series' with vampires in them for some time. Personally, haven't seen this one.
The Haunted Airman - The reviews I've read of this film are literally gushing over the performance of the actors, especially the guy from Twilight. Hmmmm, is it real?
Karloff & Lugosi Horror Classics - Some less-known horror from the iconic performers who brought us the classic monsters.
The Gate - Kids release demons from a hole in their back yard. This one has a cult following.
The Stepfather - This film spawned a sequel, and is claimed to be based on the first "America's Most Watned", John List.
Audition: Collector's Edition [Blu-ray] - Excellent J-Horror in Blu-Ray. If you haven't looked into Blu-Ray yet, I recommend it highly.
The Stepfather - Will Blu-Ray help this one? Cult following for sure and I know that many are big fans of this film.
Hardware (Blu-ray) [Blu-ray] - I honestly know nothing about this film. Is it good?
Blood: The Last Vampire - Anime horror mixed with action/adventure in this disc.
42nd Street Forever 5: Alamo Drafthouse Edition - Dozens of trailers from old grindhouse exploitation films, plus some commentary and such about an exploitation icon.
Orphan [Blu-ray] - I'm very glad that this one didn't wait too long to come out on Blu-Ray... AND, there is a CONTEST for this DVD starting on BHM in about 1 week. Stay tuned, and check the homepage.
Happy Birthday to Me - I have always loved this film and that skewer scene. The fact that it stars the woman who was wholesome as could be from 'Little House on the Prairie'.
It's Alive - I don't know why they remade this film... it was good the first time, but not top of my mind. I've read that this remake is pretty good though.
Children - Awesome concept - a virus hits the kids over the holidays and they become deadly. Cool.
Blood+: Part Two - At least one person called this 'the best vampire anime series ever made'. I don't know that guy, but he said it.
Dark Country - This had a graphic novel that was very popular, and directed by Thomas Jane who I like... but I've also heard that this movie stinks. Any conflicting views?
Tales from the Cryptkeeper: The Complete First Season - What's 'tales from the cyryptkeeper'? I don't remember this at all.
The Thaw - Val Kilmer in this one - what happened? He was on top of the world and now he's doing a bunch of straight-to-DVD films. I don't know what's up with that.
Midnight Movie [Blu-ray] - Cool concept - midnight showing of a horror movie where the killer comes out of the film to get those in the theater.
Infestation - Horror Comedy where the world is taken over by alien insects. Slacker rises to the occasion, as ususal.
The William Castle Film Collection - 8 Castle Films - the Amazon reviews are hilarious with one chick saying she was 'betrayed' because her favorite films weren't included. Rich.
The Craft [Blu-ray] - Okay, so... I don't care what you think about it, I love this film and will be purchasing this on Blu-Ray. So, there ya go...
Pets - 1974 film where a beautiful girl is seduced by a rich playboy, only to find out that he wants her for his 'collection'.
Seventh Moon - Very poorly reviewed, but I can't vouch for that because I haven't seen it. I will, however, pass on it myself.
New Horror Reviews
The star of the show right now is not the new film reviews, but a new look at the old classics. I’m talking, of course, about Uncle Pump’s Dusty Musties!
Uncle Pump is packing the blogosphere with some incredible retrospectives on horror classics that should not be forgotten. From the commentary to the extensive images, these are top rate and absolutely should not be missed.
A few of the most recent entries are:
The Creature from the Black Lagoon
Dracula has Risen from the Grave
Black Sabbath
You don’t want to miss these, and others… stay up with the latest from Uncle Pump. He’s posting a new one just about weekly.
Indie Horror Spotlight
Independent Horror has been alive and well, and as usual there is good, bad and painful. I recently came across an Indie delight that reminded me so much of my favorite 80s horror that it must be shared.
The Open Door is a Warning to All Who Have Fleeting Evil Thoughts when a rage of teen anger manifests itself in demonic death, destruction and general mayhem. Check out the Review of The Open Door Here.
Newest Videos and Horror Trailers
*There are some good horror movies coming down the pike, and BHM has got the trailers and video clips that you need. Some of the most recently posted are:

And in closing, please...
If you're walking down the street one day and a ghoul in a black hood hits you with a spoon... never, NEVER run off alone into the desert where he can pummel you unchecked.
Yours in horror,
Don Sumner
