Adopted Boy's Mouth Sewn Shut

I'm trying to think of this movie I saw years ago and I cannot for the life of me remember the title of it.
A boy is adopted by a family and his new sisters try to kill him. He attempts to find his real sister and also invents some type of hypnotic machine.
In the end, the adoptive family sews his mouth shut.
Does anyone know what this is?
