Apologies from an Occult Extremist

Allow me to start by saying that I am very sorry if this post offends anyone.
I must confess, I beg to differ with most horror fans that claim The Exorcist (1973) is the scariest movie to date. I mean, come on, for such a big bad demon to possess a little girl just to smack people around (quite funny btw), blow chunks and be blasphemous (your mother sucks ***** in hell, again, hilarious),to me it lacks anything truly frightening. I'm not afraid of your silly, harmless magical levitation act, devil. If all you can do is possess a child and make her curse at priests then you may as well just stay in hell. And don't even get me started on the Saw movies...sure hey are gory and sometimes hard to watch without wincing in pain, but Cube was much better. Gore isn't scary, just gory. And today's slasher flicks just lack the gusto and tragic antagonists of previous generations. Characters and stories are just plain dry.
Now don't get me wrong – the above are good movies, I just fail to see them as ‘scary’.
Honestly, the scariest movies I have ever seen have got to be: It (1990) (we all float down here), The Shining (1980) (although the book was much better and gives insight into the man in the bear/dog costume and his escapades with the old guy), The Amityville Horror (1979) (the sight mommy dearest sees out of her daughter’s window still gives me chills), Poltergeist (1982) (clowns...ugh!), A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) (he’s in your dreams, dude! What can you do?), Rose Red (2002) and shockingly enough, The Ring (2002). This is just a list of my top few, not necessarly in that order.
I enjoy all horror movies, yet I prefer the supernatural ones because of the feeling of hopelessness that ghosts or the undead bring with them. How do you stop something that should already be dead?
Anyone have any suggested material I should add to my Netflix queue? I've pretty much seen all of the ones on this site’s Top 100 List.
Well that's the end of my rant...hope I haven't made any permanent
