Harry and the Henderson's ha ha that is what I was thinking. If you are half asleep, a kid, and that is all you see it could be scary.

It might have been one of the boggy creek movies. There were three movies made in the seventies and they were shot in a documentary style. They were about a Bigfoot-like creature who lives in Boggy Creek.

Matt- I'm guessing you're probably 35-45...I remember a plethora of Bigfoot movies and tv specials as a child as well. I remember a movie w/a scene as you've described. This was a quick scene which lead into the movie's plot of " a research team going out to figure out why people keep disappearing in this one remote area as well as sightings of a large ape like creature". Unfortunately soooooo many of these movies/tv specials were floating around at the time it will be hard to pin-point which one it was. I also recall a tv special w/a similar scene which involved the family camping out w/the kids sleeping in the back of the station wagon...this also had a story of a farmers cat being found "scared to death" the day after a night attack of a Bigfoot creature. On a different note...were these people in the UK somewhere?? Then by all means I'd say this is Raw Head Rex.
