Black Slugs Eat Human Brains

I saw this movie in end of the 1980's but the film could be from the 1970's or beginning of the 1980's. I'm not sure.

The beginning the movie is in black and white. It's supposed to be in the 1950's or so. A young man picks up his girlfriend in a girls dorm in the evening. They drive to a viewpoint close to a forest. suddenly they see a sort of meteor that falls down in the forest. The man hurries in to the forest to find the 'meteor'. Meanwhile an axe murderer kills the woman - a bit strange... The man finds the 'meteor' which appears to be a broken container of some sort and inside it something which looks like black slugs crawls around. Suddenly they jump up in his face I think.

The story jumps to present day where two college boys want to go to a party at the popular students house. But to be welcome they have to bring a corpse. This they find in the basement of a sort of medical faculty on campus. It is the dead body of the man who went in to the forest back in the 1950's. The corpus is frozen but as the corpse is thawed suddenly the head of the corpse explodes and several black slug-like animals crawl out. I don't think anyone notices this at this point in the plot. these animals crawl in the the mouths and noses of people and then reproduces in the brain which in the end makes the head explode. the people who get infected act zombie-like I think.

The rest of my memory about this movie is a blur. But one of the boys who brought the corpse gets infected and leaves a very sad goodbye on tape to his friend. I think it is indicated in the beginning or the end - I don't remember - that the black slugs are a part of an alien project which they threw overboard and down on earth.

This movie made a big impression on me and I hope you can help me... Unfortunately I don't remember one bit of the title..
