"Blood"... Something.

This is concerning a low-budget foreign horror film from the late 90s that I rented at that time. It seemed to be Italian, Spanish or British (maybe dubbed in English if it wasn't a British film). It was about a young woman who traveled to a monastery for nuns who all seemed to be insane (possibly possessed) who would whip themselves.

There was also a large demonic creature trying to force its way into a cave or room where a young woman was, and only its arms were shown. I'm pretty sure that the word blood was in the title (hence the heading of this post.)
