Bloody Horror and Academia!!!

Hey there,

I am a horror fanatic. I'm doing a Masters in Film and Visual Studies. I need to choose a topic for my theses - along with 20,000 words I need to make a short film related to the topic. I want to do it on horror. My favorite movies are slashers 80's / 90's (American Horror). Do you know of any gaps in research or any unresolved problems surrounding the whole thing??? I am stunned that horror rarely gets critical acclaim.

Also were the hell are the Oscar winning Horror - correct! There are none. Surely Carpenter deserves an Oscar. Anyway let me know if you can think of anything. Thanks alot!!!!
