Book Makes Everyone in Town Go Crazy

In this movie, two reporters travel to a little town to report on a book that everyone is crazy over.
At one point they are talking to a young man that's reading the book and his eyes start bleeding. In another scene, they're going to their room in this bed and breakfast.
Towards the end a female reporter admits to reading the book and tells the male reporter to get out of car and run. She does this crazy back bend thing and her head spins around and she goes after the guy.
The guy goes to the town church to escape the creatures everyone's turned into, and the old woman at the counter has her husband chained to her foot and she beats him.
Any ideas?
