B&W: Blob in Tin Can

I saw a black and white movie when I was young that was similar to The Blob where it starts out in a tin can.
In one scene, a fly lands on the contents of the can and is devoured. Then the blob comes out of the can and goes outside. In the high grass, it eats a cat.
Much later (probably the end of the film) it gets cornered in a drain pipe? Can't be sure about that part.
