B&W Horror - Old Voodoo Woman Blinds Man with Needles

I saw a horror movie as a kid in the sixties where an old voodoo woman ties a man to a chair - or he's drugged, or both, and she calmly blinds him with (knitting?) needles. We see it from the man's point of view and, when the needles penetrate, there are splotches of the screen blotted out. WHAT IS THIS MOVIE? It's a childhood nightmare that I cannot find.

It could be set on an island. It could star Bela Lugosi or Karloff. But I clearly remember the blinding scene. All help appreciated.
