Monolith Monsters/Meteor Trees
by: Anonymous2

No, The Monolith Monsters is an American film about a meteor that sucks up silicon from wet sand, grows (from the bottom) into something like the Washington Monument, tips over (smashing everything), and the fragments grow into more towers. They're neutralized by salt water. A nice apocalyptic application of high-school chemistry.

The Day of the Triffids (1962) is a British film about a meteor shower that leaves most of the world blind and produces/releases three-legged plants with poisonous whips/tentacles. They are also stopped with salt water.

I never saw the Kawabunga one.

Help!
by: Tatonka

Thanks everyone for your help but From Hell it Came is not the film I'm looking for. In my movie there are no natives and the film ends with the trees being led into the ocean, or it rains and kills them. The trees are seen pulling up their roots and slowly walking after people.

Glad you found the film...
by: Tatonka

...I too am looking for a film that's very much like what you describe; it's in b/w but the trees are brought to life by a meteor and they pull up their roots and slowly go after people.

Eventually, they're led off a cliff into the ocean below and killed by the salt water.

Does anyone know the name of this film?

Thanx

Took 43 years to find the title!
by: Kim

Thank you Arworkmonkey!

I believe you hit this right on the head! I will now search for a copy on DVD.

I read some comments on the movie and now I know why my Dad would laugh at my brother and me when we would get so scared after watching it.

Oh well - I was about 7 years old and 43 years later I still remember parts of it, so I guess it had an impact on me.

Thanks!

From Hell it Came
by: artworkmonkey

Hi Kim,

It might be From Hell it Came (1957).
It had a killer tree in it that was called Tobunga (a little like Kowabunga).

Hope this helps.
