Flesh for Fantasy
At the age of 9 my mother got together with my stepfather. He had a five year old son, and an 10 year daughter. The daughter was into those stupid V C Andrews books, and horror movies. We would go to our local Videoflix, and rented endless horror flix.
At that age I was not into horror and never wanted to rent them, but at the same time I was compelled to watch, and the fear was overwhelming.
Nightmares would ensue, and I made endless broken promises to never watch horror movies ever again. Of course, that never lasted. Every other week-end, when my step sister would show up, we hit the video store and rent every single demonic movie this store had to offer. And as any well nourished horror addict knows some stores carry a greater selection then others. This store had a great selection, everything from my personal all time favorite Texas Chainsaw Massacre 74' to Sleepaway Camp, Happy Birthday to Me, Halloween, the Friday the 13th films, Nightmare on Elm Street films, Hellraiser films, The Thing, Night/Dawn/Day films, Re-Animator, The Evil Dead, Suspira, etc, etc.
Anyhow, the darkness consumed me (in a good way), I've watched so many horror movies I forget I still have a life to lead and I have never looked back. My collection is enormous, Italian, Spanish, Asian, Scandinavian, South American and good ole North American horror.
It is nice reading about all the horror freaks out there, its like a secret community, outside of the norm, just the way I like it!
