Norman Reedus as Kirby Sweetman
Udo Kier as Mr. Bellinger
Synopsis: Kirby Sweetman (Norman Reedus)
is a small
theater owner who is best known for his ability to track down obscure
films for collectors. At a time when the future of his theater is in
question, Mr. Bellinger (Udo Kier) invites him to a search for the
supposed “holy grail” of horror; a film by the name
of
“Le Fin Absolue du Monde” or “Absolute
End of the
World”. Rumor has it that there is only one copy and any one
who
sees it goes murderously insane. Kirby’s search in Cigarette
Burns will take him to the edge of the macabre and beyond.
Thoughts: Being a certifiable Horror Freak, I am always looking for the rare and obscure film that constitutes being called a treasure. Cigarette Burns qualifies. I am also a huge fan of John Carpenter which intensified my enjoyment of Cigarette Burns. Carpenter takes any concept, no matter how outlandish, and places it on the verge of believability. Udo Kier (Blade, There’s No Fish Food in Heaven, etc) and Norman Reedus (Blade 2, Mimic, etc) played their characters to borderline perfection. Cigarette Burns is my favorite of the 13 Masters of Horror episodes. Questions or comments about Cigarette Burns? Contact us!
