Clock Ticks Down the End of the World in 80s or 90s Horror

I am trying to remember the title of this movie from the 80's, maybe early 90's It is about nuclear war or the end of the world somehow. I think it was supposed to be funny or cheeky too.

I can only remember small, maybe trivial, details. I am pretty sure it took place in one setting, inside a house. I remember the main character was a man. I remember him watching the news a lot and getting reports on the end of the world but again it was really weird not regular news updates. I remember him trying to open the front door at one point, maybe at the end, and there being a really bright light. I also remember a clock that showed the progression of time to when the bomb would hit I think. The clock could be throughout the whole movie or just in a montage sort of thing at the end.

It's pretty vague but if anyone could help I would appreciate it!!
