Creepy Killer Suspends Himself Above Dead Victims in Water Tank

What is that movie where a woman works inside a lab that is able to send people laying in bed sleeping to a representation of their subconcious world?

At first she's going into this virtual world to see a little boy, but later the plot revolves around this creepy guy who was beaten has a child and his now abducting women. He places them one at a time in a water tank that fills up over the course of a couple of days. He later suspends himself with hooks over the dead victim's bodies.

A memorable scene inside his head includes a horse being split up into different sections in glass slabs.
