Dead Heavy Metal Star Kills High School Students

There was an 80's film about a dead heavy metal star - I think his name was Sam Hain - who kills high school students.

In one scene, a cheerleader gets killed in the back seat of a car through the headphones in her Walkman.

They are eventually able to solve the problem by playing this rock star's record backwards.

Hard rock idol Sammi Curr (Tony Fields) burns to death in a hotel fire. You were close about the name. Great movie and great soundtrack by Fastway.
