Dear Zombie Master: Asian Zombies?

by Zombie Novice
(Oregon, USA)

Dear Zombie Master,

I have just one question. A lot of the more mainstream zombie movies are from the USA, with the next largest group, from what I've noticed, coming from Spain. I was wondering if there are any zombie movies, or even ‘not-a-zombie’ zombie movies from Asia, specifically any noteworthy ones?

Many thanks,

Zombie Novice

Zombie novice,

There are several very note worthy Asian zombie additions. Here are just a few:

Versus: Director's Cut (2000)
Wild Zero (2000)
Bio-Zombie (1998)
Tokyo Zombie (2005)
Zombie Dead (2008)
Junk (1999)
Kung Fu Zombie (1982)
Sars Wars: Bangkok Zombie Crisis (2004)
Shaolin vs. Evil Dead (2004)
Stacy (2001)

The list is endless, some good and some bad, but all worth watching at least once.

Good hunting and aim high,

The Zombie Master

Chinese Zombies
by: Mere

China has zombies too...they wear a hat/Chinese clothes, a paper is glued to their forehead (it has some inscription), their arms are stretched forward, hands relaxed. And they walk by jumping or flying. I haven't seen how they kill them, but the idea is that paper on their forehead. If it gets damaged/removed, they come back to life, and it has to be replaced by a new one...or a more powerful one, then they will stop moving. I also have seen they suck blood. I'm not an expert on this, but they randomly appear in Chinese movies that have to do with the after dead, magic spells and/or Gods.

Asian zombies rule
by: DarkJesterCyn

I had no idea when my girlfriend had me watch Versus that it was a zombie flick, and it was pretty darn good. Stacy is my favorite Asian zombie flick, but I'd also like to submit Vampire Hunters for consideration - it had a very interesting take on zombies and I think is a must see.
