Dear Zombie Master: Can Zombies Be Crushed?
by DJ
(The zombie hoard next door)
Dear Zombie Master,
One of my friends brought up something while watching a zombie movie a couple days ago. He asked "If a zombie were to go into the water,
wouldn't the pressure crush them?" This brought up a whole discussion of zombie theories, all centering around what kills them.
What I’m asking is: Can water pressure kill a zombie and if so, can’t they simply be crushed in general to cause death?
Thanks,
DJ
DJ,
I will answer your questions backwards (for no reason but that I am in a backwards mood).
2. Yes, zombies can be crushed to cause death, as long as the target of said crushing is the head. The NOTLD '90 remake is a perfect example of a zombie that has been run over, crushing its legs, and still trying to move.
1. No. The body is made up mostly of water and is in-compressible.This means that the body's tissues will not crush no matter how much pressure is applied. Lungs and ear drums will rupture because of the air (and all other gasses) compressing but theoretically you could sit on the bottom of the ocean and not get "crushed".
Good hunting and aim high,
The Zombie Master
