Dear Zombie Master: Claymores and Grapeshot
by Schwacker
(St. Louis, Missouri, USA)
Dear Zombie Master,
With all the emphasis on the head shot and the fact that in reality most are never as good with the handgun shot to the head as those in the movies, why do we never see folks running to the nearest armory or hardware store and utilizing claymores or grapeshot to mow down rows of those pesky zombies?
Thanks,
Schwacker
Schwacker,
If by 'Claymore' you are referring to the Scottish two-handed sword, then it is probably because it is big, cumbersome and requires two hands. If however, you are referring to the directional anti-personnel mine, then we've got something there. I would guess the reason we don't see them used a lot is the fact that for them to be useful against zombies, they would have to be mounted high enough to do cranial damage when triggered. It does no good if you just blow the legs off (I have them on tree trunks and self-made platforms, but I have said too much already).
As far as 'grape-shot' / 'canister-shot' is concerned, I do not know very many people with howitzers readily available (although I might be in the market for self-propelled model but, again, I have said too much).
Just remember, it does not matter what you use as long as it is...
Good hunting and aim high,
The Zombie Master
