I got the message and the references to the Iraq war and all that I just thought it was done clumsily.

Romero often made social commentary in his movies about the Vietnam war, racism, capitalism, etc. but always clever and stuble. Feeding the Masses is about as subtle as a brick to the face.

Plus the acting, effects and worst of all the "humor" were terrible.

Romero also critized mainstream media in Diary of the Dead, although I also didn't like that movie.

I hope his next movie will be better than that.

I do think one could make an intresting movie about the media during a zombie outbreak but Feeding the Masses fails to do so.

Effects of Twitter on Zombie Outbreaks
by: Horror Queen

Hi Kevin,

A few years ago (like two) I would have agreed with you but the massive effect of cell phones and Twitter on mainstream media is profound in that even a zombie outbreak would be reported unfiltered by Fox and on CNN iReports.

Example Twitter Posts:

@arkansasboy Help. I'm in my backyard and zombies are eating my best friend

@twitterzombie Come everyone to the center of town for free ice cream

Granted, the quality of Feeding the Masses was not great, but the message of mass media saying everything is hunky dory while a zombie horde is ravaging a city seems right.

What would 'Fox News', 'CNN' or any news outlet broadcast under such circumstances. Think about it. Mass hysteria is unthinkable. Just me thinking.

Cheers,
Kev.

Quarantine was bad. But then that's just my opinion (I liked Blair Witch 2) so you can decide for yourself.

Yeah, it had a couple of cool scenes but the over-all effect was runied by a horrible, HORRIBLE ending. There are other things I could gripe about but won't.

Just one man's opinion.

Cheers,

Kevin

Is Quarantine that bad? World War Z seems very cool and I can't wait for the movie next year.

I added your recommendations. Flight was already on it though.

Zombies rule!
by: Kevin

Just reading the list of movies you're going to watch, may I make a few suggestions?

Take Quarantine off the list and stick with REC.

You might want to add Severed, PlagaZombie: Mutant Zone, and Flight of the Living Dead.

Just throwing it out there for ya. I also have some other titles to run screaming from. Those later...

Cheers,
Kev.

...feel nothing at all. Period. They feel nothing for no one. Just a single minded object running on a very basic instinct. To feed. They don't know why, they just do.

Hi
by: Moss Daley

Hey, if you haven't already seen Re-Animator or Dellamorte Dellamore, you should really check them out. They would be in my top-five favorite zombie flicks if there weren't such gems as the Romero films and the Evil Deads and Brain Dead.

If you really liked Evil Dead you'll really really like Dellamorte Dellamore. In America it's entitled Cemetery Man. It was directed by Michele Soavi who is none other than the legendary Dario Argento's protege.

Re-Animator is just WOW. This flick is so different, I can't even explain to you. I read H.P. Lovecraft when I was in junior high and never even knew this gem existed. It's nothing like the story and I'm actually glad for that. If Stuart Gordon made at least one great flick, it's this one. Also, watch the non-rated version - there's more gore...good stuff. It'll scare ya to pieces.

Try finding this movie to see the full conversion of human to zombie. It is actually more of a drama than a horror film.

Thanks for the reply
by: Hidde

First of all, thanks for answering my questions.

Since asking the questions I have watched and added a lot of the list of movies to watch (I can't believe didn't watch the Evil Dead movies before - they are excellent - I watched all of them in one afternoon.

A brief question I forgot:

Do zombies feel a sense of comradery, solidarity, altruism? In other words do they help an undead brother out?

....Feeding the Masses to your list of zombie movies to watch. A nice behind-the-scenes look at mass media during an outbreak.
