Dear Zombie Master: Is Samara a Zombie?

We are God's zombies when in the Holy Spirit
Dear Zombie Master,
Great site! After reading about different types of zombies, I find myself wondering; was Samara from the movie The Ring a zombie or something else?
She haunts her victims like a ghost, but she behaves like a zombie in trying to attack the living every chance she can, when they fulfill
the requirements.
So perhaps a ghost-zombie hybrid or a specific creature I've never heard of? Definitely some kind of undead.
Thanks,
Donald
Donald,
Samara (Sadako in the original) is not a zombie, she is an Onryo which is a vengeful Yurei or ghost that has returned to take vengeance for a wrong that was done to them. Also, the white clothing and long black hair (which seems so cliche now) can be traced back to the 18th century with a painting by Maruyama Okyo entitled "The Ghost or Oyuki".
Keep questioning because we all must know what to go after and what not to. I would hate to see people wasting bullets on angry ghosts.
Good hunting and aim high,
The Zombie Master
