Dear Zombie Master: What of Flies?

Dear Zombie Master,
Flies have been known to spread diseases like anthrax, cholera, conjunctivitis, dysentery, leprosy, malaria, tuberculosis, and typhoid fever -- to name a few. Since houseflies dine on decaying matter, a zombie outbreak would be like Mana from Heaven to them. To the living, houseflies would become almost as dangerous as the zombies they dine on. Their swarms would reach biblical proportions.
In a post-outbreak world where insecticides, electricity and bug zappers are scarce or unavailable, what would The Zombie Master do to protect against the dangers of such a pending insect invasion?
Thanks,
Max
Max,
You are correct in worrying about the fly. Not so much about the decaying zombies, as the amount of fecal matter that will be piling up as a result of the sanitation systems failing. Without the vaccines to inoculate our children, the diseases that we have not seen in decades will return.
I do however have good news. The fly's natural predators- spiders, frogs, wasps, etc. - will be having a feast as well.
Now the question was, what would I do? The answer is actually pretty simple. Keep my hands washed. Remember, Nostradamus was helping out during the Bubonic Plague outbreak in France and he kept good hygiene practices (and he did not have any anti-bacterial soap either). Just because there are zombies around doesn't mean we have to be slobs.
Keep everything as clean as possible and burn everything (including the zombies you have put down).
Good hunting and aim high,
The Zombie Master
