Cinthia Moura as The Deer Woman
Synopsis: There is a local Native
American legend about a Deer Woman who is a beautiful seductive woman
from the waist up and a deer from the waist down that seduces and then
murders the unlucky men who accept her advances. Detective Faraday
(Brian Benben) and Officer Reed (Anthony Griffith) do not want to
believe this legend but are hard pressed to find any other explanation
for the series of gory killings that are taking place around them.
Thoughts: John Landis is the type of director that you either like him or not. He does not leave a lot of room for grey area. Deer Woman is typical John Landis – a little bit “out there”, a bit “cheeky” and sarcastic, and so subtle that it slaps you in the face. For a bit of context John Landis was also the director of Animal House. As a matter of fact, Deer Woman is so John Landis that no one else could have done this episode. It is not scary at all but it does keep you glued to the screen. Brian Benben is very believable as the cop who keeps his dignity while getting the crap jobs. This is a fun entry to the series but that is about the best I can say for it. Questions or comments about Deer Woman? Contact us!
