Dog's Spine Ripples Before It Turns Into Creature

I'm trying to find a movie I watched with my parents as a kid in the '90s where aliens or some sort of monster attacks people in contamination suits (you know, like astronaut gear).
Also there's a creepy part where a dog's back/spine starts rippling weirdly, and then it turns into one of the creatures and kills people.
