Synopsis: Walter Gilman (Ezra Godden) is
a graduate student at Miskatonic University. He needs a place of quiet
so he can do his studies. He finds it in an old boarding house and
after renting a room begins to wonder if he should have looked
elsewhere. Weird things are happening. He is having dreams that are
freaking him out and the neighbor downstairs seems to know what he is
dreaming about. Come to find out in Dreams in the Witch House,
his room is the gateway in which evil forces travel across dimensions.
Oh goody.
Thoughts: I am a sucker for a good Lovecraft movie and it seems that Stuart Gordon (Re-Animator, Dagon, etc.) is the only one that can pull it off. Dreams in the Witch House is probably his best attempt to date. Gordon is able to understand Lovecraft’s style of horror better than anyone. The acting is good too. Ezra Godden (also in Dagon) does a good job in Dreams in the Witch House with the “sane man going insane” role and Campbell Lane does an equally good job in the “seemingly insane man who actually knows what he is talking about” role.
