English Fuedal Crossbow Ritual

When I was a kid I saw this black and white 60's movie about a guy from America(?) that inherits a castle/estate in England.

The man takes his wife and son over to claim his right as the 17th lord of blah blah and gets involved in weird near misses in the estate forest with (I think) a crossbow while deer hunting.

His wife wants him to leave but he feels drawn to stay and of course gets his turn with the crossbow as deer meat. Everyone says what a horrible accident it was etc. etc. but really he and his lineage are cursed to return to this land and be sacrificed.

The last scene in the movie is the wife packing up the car to leave and a butler/caretaker has taken something the guy's son (little boy) wants badly so he is forced to kiss a ring(?) stone(?) and the butler/caretaker gives back the boy's treasure. The viewer then understands that the boy will grow up, return to the estate, get sacrificed and continue the harvest home type setup like his father, grandfather etc. before him.

Any help identifying this movie would be appreciated.
