Evil Baby Creature Can Destroy The World!

by Omar
(Salem, Oregon)

Hi all,

I saw this movie when I was a kid.

The movie was about a baby or creature being born in a hospital, it was all deformed and I believe evil.

In the same hospital there is this old man, a shaman or something who must send that baby-thing into another dimension or something, because it can destroy the world. He said in the movie that the power of 10,000 churches cannot stand against him.

There is a lot of light coming from where the baby creature thing is in the hospital, and the halls, the walls and rooms get all misty and cold, like in The Exorcist.

I think in the end the old man manages to send the creature back.

I cant remember the name of this movie though, and if anyone knows please tell me! I would love to watch this one again.

Thanks!

'The Manitou'
by: Anonymous

I agree it's The Manitou. It features Tony Curtis who hires a shaman to stop this Indian demon who is growing from his friend's body. It has many powers, and in one scene it makes the hallways freezing and cold. Maybe you can check it out.

The Manitou (1978)
by: Linda

A psychic's girlfriend finds out that a lump on her back is a growing reincarnation of a 400 year-old demonic Native American spirit. Tony Curtis was the psychic who found the shaman to help save his girl friend and the world.

Because doctors were trying to diagnose the growing Lump, they used heavy radiation (X-rays) and damaged the fetal shaman. When he was finally born, he was really ticked off!

I saw that movie at the Drive - In and I lost sleep over it. I remember that the good shaman told us that everything had it's own spirit or Manitou, so modern machines weakened the evil spirit. I slept with my sisters electric typewriter next to my bed for weeks, so I could throw it at the monster if it showed up in my room.

This is also a series of books by Graham Masterton. Mr. Masterton does an excellent job of working native American myth into his books.

I thought that you might be referring to "It's Alive" (1974) by Larry Cohen, the only movie I've ever watched that had the midwife equip her labor and delivery pack with a hand gun!
The Davies are expecting a baby which turns out to be a monster with the nasty habit of killing when it's scared. And it's easily scared, always hungry and moves fast.

This movie kept me awake as a child.
by: Tony

The movie is called the Manatou, it was about a women who went to a indian reservation a scientist i think and became some what possesd by an indian shaman, she really wasn't possesd more like impregnated by the spirit...that was the only way he could come back...towards the end she's about to give birth to the evil shaman and realilizes that she is the only one who can kill him because she has some of his powers..the ending took a place in a hospital and the halls were all misty and there was alot of lite and stuff. I'm sure this is the movie your'e talking about because the 10'000 church thing brought it all back and comming from a native american back ground seeing this as a child freaked me out...good luck finding it cause i can't find it anywhere..........Tony
