Ghost Horror with Purple Cover

Thanks in advance for any leads; I'm searching for a film whose VHS box art I saw over a decade ago in NY. The cover depicted a long shot of a house with the zombie-like, white-eyed head of a ghost creature looming above it. Everything was tinted purple, and the head seemed like a shot from the film incorporated into the art.

Also, though this might have been unique to this particular box, the cover was cut to have a venetian-blind effect; that is, it was cut into horizontal slats down the middle. It was either from the late 80's or very early 90's, and, as far as I've seen, has no DVD release.

Please help!
