Good Zombie Books

Hello there Zombie Master,

I hope you are able to spare some time from your house-barricading and ammo-stocking activities to answer my question...

Are there any good zombie books out there ? I really mean stories, not survival guides. I already read Re-Animator by Lovecraft, which I liked very much but that's a short story and therefore it was over way too soon.

I have only recently gotten myself into the zombie genre by seeing Land of the Dead (I guess seeing 15 minutes of the original Dawn of the Dead as a 10-year old and not being able to sleep for the next two weeks doesn't count...) and since then the legendary Romero's fan-base has increased by 1! I also saw Shaun of the Dead, which I didn't think was very scary (I jumped a few times though) but absolutely hilarious.

By the way, can you recommend any other good zombie-comedies ?

Thank you and keep up the good work!

P.S. I do realize these are actually two questions, my apologies.

Bart,

I needed to take a break anyway. I do need to eat every now and then.

There are plenty zombie books out there but they are not advertised as well as a King or Lumley novel so this is a good question that I hope will send others to there local book store in search of reading material.

My favorite at the moment is World War Z by Max Brooks. It is an easy read and tells the history of the zombie war from those who were involved.

History is Dead: A Zombie Anthology is a collection of stories that proves that zombies have existed for a long time.

Day by Day Armageddon by J. L. Bourne is a journal that depicts one man's struggle to survive after a zombie take over. Bourne is in the process of writing a sequel to this one that I am eagerly awaiting the release of.

I am currently reading Empire:A Zombie Novel by David Dunwoody. It is a great concept in which Death himself is after the zombies become they have escaped his grasp.

For some good zom-com films, the first two Return of the Living Dead movies and the recent Fido are great.

Good hunting and aim high,

The Zombie Master
