Horror Film from the Mid-90s

Hi,

Hopefully you can help me find a horror film I saw during the mid 90's, but it may have been released before.

I can only remember bits of the film. The two main characters are a teenage girl and boy. The girl starts to change into a zombie thing and ends up sewing glass or something into her skin and she also starts to eat flesh. She has a lot of piercings and a black leather jacket.

The change is a shock to her boyfriend, but he stays with her anyway, convinced he can help her get through.

Sorry I can't really remember anything else. Any clues?
