Horror Movies Worth Revisiting
by Lucy
(Pennsylvania, USA)
I love horror and have some faves that are not always on the "Top 10 List".
Besides the obvious (Exorcist, Halloween, Evil Dead, etc.), these are some of my choices, for pure horror/creepy factor:
Near Dark very creepy and great scene in the bar)
The Orphanage (great story and beautiful cinematography)
Jacob's Ladder (classic "is it or isn't it real" story)
Prince of Darkness (cool, offbeat flick)
The Serpent and the Rainbow (scarier knowing it's loosely based on a true story)
Magic (underrated in my book)
In the Mouth of Madness (insanity at its best)
Puppetmaster (never did much like little dolls)
Hard Candy (very disturbing)
Don't Look Now (chilling story, lovely Venice scenes)
If you like some humor (again leaving out the obvious Shaun of the Dead, American Werewolf in London, etc.) then I suggest:
Motel Hell ("It takes all kinds of critters to make Farmer Vincent's fritters")
Fright Night ("Evil Ed" is wicked funny)
Gory Killers (Hero, Heroine, Bartender - need i say more?)
Killer Klowns from Outer Space (pure, exhilirating cheese)
Fearless Vampire Killers (ballroom scene is priceless)
Blood for Dracula (aka "Andy Warhol's Dracula"-great camp and a young Udo Kier)
The People Under the Stairs (hilarious and creepy)
...these are few of my favorite things.
