Horseshoe Crab-Like Creatures Suck Your Bones Out

I saw a movie in the late 60's or early 70's that had a bunch of creatures that came from a meteorite that look like very large horseshoe crabs.

A man tries to kill one by chopping it in half, but the two halves turn into two whole creatures. As a kid, I thought their innards looked like spaghetti. The creatures hid in trees and would fall down to attack people, after which the people would be like jelly (no bones).

Does anyone remember this movie? I've been hounded by this for decades now, but have not found any information on it and continues to drive me crazy!
