Getting a Part in a Horror Movie
by: Miss_L

Tracy,

On a couple occasions, I've seen parts as extras offered on eBay. You might want to have eBay alert you by e-mail if another one comes up. Pretty clever idea as a fundraiser; plus, once you get your foot in the door, who knows what might happen?

Well, there you have it Tracy!
by: The Horror Czar

So, Tracy...

I don't think you are going to get better guidance than what a certified horror goddess has offered. (Do you think my crush on Melissa Bacelar is that obvious? Yikes!)

Please keep us posted with your successes! I'm sure that someone that looks as good as you do in a zombie nightgown and blue slippers won't have much trouble being cast in a bunch of horror movies!

P.S. I think my "Bacelar Goggles" caused me to almost forget the great insights from Laura! Thanks for the response Laura - and Tracy, you should REALLY have everything you need now!

How to be in a Horror Film by a Horror Actress!
by: Melissa Bacelar

Ok. There are a couple of sure fire ways to be in a horror film!! 1. Offer to work for free :) 2. Buy thigh hi boots and vinyl shorts..if you are a girl. I am not sure about clothes for a boy. Tracy can be either boy or girl. Damn. Ok, find horror companies in your area. You can go to www.imdb.com and look up titles of your favorite films and see if any of the production companies are in your vicinity. Most companies have websites and email addresses where you can send pictures and request parts. Also, alot of these sites will put up character descriptions and ask for submissions! Another great way is to go to local horror conventions!! This is what is great about indie horror films. The film makers are totally accessible!! Myspace has been super helpful too. Almost every indie film has a trailer and page on Myspace. Introduce yourself to these guys and let them know you are available. Network, Network, Network. Thats how to do it. Hope that helps.

Extras
by: Laura

I dont have a specfic answer to your question but you should try googleing "movie extras". Theres alot of sites dedicated to helping extras find movies to be in.
Also, where do you live? I imagine that has alot to do w/ it. Many times directors will use locals(who live at the location of whereever they are filming) as extras and for bit parts in movies. I think i've seen something in my local paper about a director looking for extras for something. But, then again i live in West chester, pa so we never have movies filmed here save for Bam's jackass movies.
You probably have to start broad and get hooked up w/ a site or agency that finds extras. Then its just a matter of waiting for a horror movie to come along (but in the meantime ya can be in some other movies...i hear the pay aint too bad but i could be wrong).
I'd like to hear from someone who's actually been an extra (in any movie) and how they did it. Although i dont think its as much fun as it sounds (ever watch the special features on the new Dawn of the Dead? Those extras had to wear those hot sweaty latex masks in the heat for hours and hours!)!
