HP Lovecraft ish Film From the 80s

Scene from the movie: A girl goes into a fit and her friends try to help. She can't breath then we see her start to grow gills down her body. Her friends put her in the bath to save her.
Later some tentacled thing attacks a woman in her car and she crashes into a lake. What ever attacked her then appears at the house where the girl became a fish and wreaks havoc.
This film plot came up in a recent lads night out and not one of us could get the title.
Can any of you guys help?
