'Humanoids' and 'C.H.U.D.'

Back in my younger days I remember my older siblings and parents watching movies on HBO while I was banished to another room to play nerf basketball.
When I heard movies like Humanoids From The Deep (1980) and C.H.U.D (1984) were playing I just had to get in on it. I was sneaky enough to listen to the slow parts and when the suspense started, my family didn't notice I was there so I got my fill and loved every minute, peering from behind any doorway or couch cushion I could.
I actually learned a lot from being a voyeur of those watching the films, seeing what was scaring them and understanding what the genre was there for. They always would scream, then laugh and talk to each other. It was all in fun, not malicious or anger-provoking. That is what I look for in my movies now, scary good fun.
