I Thought There Was Something Wrong With Me!

I was born in '85 which is fine but I wouldn't mind to be born at least ten years earlier just so I could fully explore my favorite decades of horror ('70-'80s).
Anyway, horror movies hit my mind when I was 4 years old. 'Poltergeist' was the title of the first horror movie that I saw and the scene that changed me was 'the dead in the pool'. The next year brought 'Tremors', 'Fright Night' and of course Freddy. Funny thing but I didn't discover Jason until 1995... and it was all thanks to a Nintendo video game that I found at some Russian bazaar :) Then I saw the first 4 'Friday' movies at my local video store and that was it! (parts 5-9 weren't available then in my country, incredible, right? :))
1997 was the year I finally saw the horror movie of my life. The one that still scares me today, the one that defined me as a true horror movie fan, the one that messed me up for good. It was the one about 'the night HE came home'. Yes, Halloween. Imagine - I came across this classic almost 8 years later I got hooked on horror.
Well, I live in Poland so you gotta understand that most of the classics came out on VHS sometime in the first half of the '90s (and digging' them up was a real and long adventure). Heck, we got our first VCR and a COLOR TV in '91!!! Yeah, talking about the communism...
Moving on... Through '90s renting VHS's became very popular and thankfully Polish distributors didn't forget about scary movie fanatics. By 1998 I'd seen so many slasher, zombie, vampire and ghost flicks that I started to think that maybe there was something wrong with me. I mean, who would enjoy watching blood and guts over and over again?
When I finally got the Internet in 2000 I realized I wasn't alone. And that made me very happy and proud of what a freak I've become ;) I LOVE HORROR MOVIES and I hope some day my kids will enjoy them as much as I do.
GREETZ to all horror freaks all over the world!
