I'm Not Satisfied

by Anonymous

I'm 14 years old and I've seen many horror films from The Exorcist to Night of the Living Dead to Halloween by Rob Zombie. I really enjoy watching them but I find that they're never scary enough. I've watched tons of horror films but yet I'm just never that scared. I'm going over the horror movie lists to find that one movie that is. Someone has to help me, I feel like I'm going to go insane if I don't find that movie. And before you start sending me suggestions, here's a list of all the scary movies I've seen:

The Exorcist, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th (Parts 1 and 2), Jaws (1,2,3 and 4), Alien, Aliens, Alien3, Alien Resurrection, Pet Sematary, Cristine, Child's Play (1,2,3), Scream, Halloween 1 and 2, The Shining, Night of the Living Dead, Anaconda 1 and 3, Cujo, Riding the Bullet, Sleepy Hollow, The Cat's Eye, Signs, Paranormal Activity, 28 Days Later, 28 Weeks Later, Hellraiser, Freddy vs. Jason, The Forth Kind, Saw (1,2,3,4,5), Resident Evil (1,2,3), Shaun of the Dead, Zombieland, Gremlins, and Predator (1 and 2).

So please - I'm dying to not be able to sleep from being scared. Help me!

Try these
by: bloodlines

You've watched some nice slasher, sci-fi, ghost and crime horror movies but maybe you just aren't the jumpy type, so try Cannibal Holocaust, Men Behind the Sun, Cannibal Ferox, Anti-Christ, 120 Days of Sodom. These movies didn't scare me but they disgusted me so much that I just keep watching them. I show all my friends to watch the horror on their faces.

Thoughts on fear
by: JT

I also am right there with you about seeing many, many horror movies, or just about anything that has a chance of putting the fear in me. Everyone knows that we as humans fear what we don't understand, or can't control. With that in mind, finding or acknowledging what really scares you is your best chance for finding the "one."

Perhaps you are simply in the wrong state of mind before you pop in a horror or thriller. Try making yourself feel more vulnerable, and not so confident about your surroundings.

Ever take a hike alone into the woods an hour before sundown, marching aimlessly for a half an hour in an unknown direction, then find your way back? The uncertainty of not knowing your way, the fact that it will be dark soon, and just out of range for anyone to be able to hear you scream for help should suffice for a proper state of mind. Also your imagination has more of a chance to play tricks on your senses when you are alone like this.

And yes, something similar to this actually happened to me when I was young and impressionable, though it didn't stop me from going back into the woods.

I recommend watching The Crazies (2010) - it's loosely related to my point of uncertainty as far as not knowing the reasons for what?s going on. It may not put the ?fear? into you, but IMO it?s a ?must see? revamped zombie movie.

At least you tube the trailers.

Someone commented above about The Strangers. I'm some what the same when it comes to horror movies, its hard for them to scare me. Gore is not scary! It annoys me. A good Horror movie is something that is clever, has a good plot twist and stays in your mind. I live out in the bush, and one night I rented The Strangers. It was a typical horror night windy, dark, raining. This movie sticks in your mind. The movie it self isn't that scary but the feeling it leaves you is. There are reasons why this movie scared me, maybe the fact that my brother gets himself into trouble with people you would prefer not to meet. And I have a fear of someone turning up on the door step. Anyway some other suspenseful movies are Vacancy, Funny Games were very clever, Shutter (subtitles), Eden Lake.

Viva La France
by: Horror Mommy

I have seen many horror films and if you want gore, look no further than French horror. High Tension, Frontiers, Inside are all excellent examples of French movie magic.I have not seen Martyrs yet because the plot seems contrived to me. I also have a couple of domestic picks for you. I really was scared by The Strangers (2008) - while it is not gory it struck a nerve with me and I find the reality of it highly unnerving. If you want an excellent ghost tale try Beloved (1998) starring Oprah and Danny Glover.I cannot understand why this movie was not marketed as horror. Beloved reminds me of the stories my great grandparents used to tell me when I was a kid that scared the heck out of me. The Return of the Living Dead is a must. Also Gacy (2003) and Ed Gein (2000) starring Steve Railsback.

Try serial killer movies
by: Anonymous

I feel the same way, but that's what got me into horror...when I realized it no longer scared me like when I was a kid. I would suggest trying out serial killer movies. These are scary because they could really be true. Someone could decide to kill you tomorrow. But I really suspect that you won't find any that scare you and you'll have to get an adrenaline rush doing roller coasters, bungy jumping, etc.

Good chills

I found that Ju-On-The Grudge (2003) was kind of scary, and House of the Devil (2009). The Shining (1980) is always a good one too.

Someone like me
by: Anonymous

Wow I thought I was the only one! I have seen so many horror movies but none scare me. I also want to feel the fear, be on the edge of my seat and not be able to sleep. But none I've seen have affected me. I really enjoy them, I love them, but none have scared me yet and I do not know why. All my friends are like 'that movie scared me so bad'. I go and watch it, nothing. I am waiting for that one movie also.

'A Nightmare on Elm Street' (2010)
by: I'm Not Satisfied

I'm going to try and see the new A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010). It will be my first horror movie in theaters. My mom says I can go but I need an adult to go with me for it is rated R and I'm still fourteen.

Coming to theaters April 30, 2010!

'Tale of Two Sisters' (1989)
by: Anonymous

Now this was a horror movie that I finished watching yesterday. It may may have a slow start but it gets really good. And no, this is not about murderers or zombies. This movie will scare you in a psychological way and I must say it was amazing because just when you think you understand what's going on, they twist the story.

Naahh...
by: tonocavazos

I highly recommend watching Splinter (2008), and Eden Lake (2009). They have good twists on the plot. Also, I didn't catch whether or not you had watched The Hills Have Eyes (1 and 2). Shutter (2008) is good but not that scary. I also liked Feast (2005). Maybe Orphan (2009). Let me know if you liked any of these.

Cheesy Movies
by: I'm Not Satisfied

I never mind watching a cheesy movie mostly because I like to laugh at it and the makers of the movie. If you like cheesy movies go and watch original movies on the Sci-Fi Channel.

You might try...
by: Kevin

...looking at foreign films. Some Japanese or Korean films are very good. Try R-Point (2004) or Re-Cycle (2006). Audition (1999) is good. If you just want really twisted movies then watch Gozu (2003), Ichi the Killer (2001), Battle Royale (2000), Suicide Club (2001). Expand your horizon. There's lots of cool stuff out there.

Just tryin' to help.

Kev.

Some suggestions
by: Anonymous

I have the same problem, lol. I have seen some that have creeped me out, but I get creeped out by ghost stuff so I'm biased. I thought The Changeling (1980) with George C. Scott was pretty creepy. Suspiria (1977) by Dario Argento has a good atmosphere to it, but it's not really scary. I honestly thought Silent Hill (2006) was pretty good too (based on the video game.) 1408 (2007) with John Cusack is pretty darn scary I think. The Amityville Horror (1979) has it's moments too. House of a 1000 Corpses (2003) and The Devil's Rejects (2005) are pretty good as far as twisted flicks go. Dead Silence (2007) starts out pretty good, and if you're okay with the kind of cheesy reveal of the ghost at the end, it's pretty good. The remake of House on Haunted Hill (1999) had me scared when I was a teenager; I'm not sure about now though.
