(Michie Ito) that he fell in love with years ago and had promised that
one day he would return for her. Following her trail to a mysterious
island he links up with another, slightly deformed, prostitute and
finds out that his beloved Komomo has died. The explanation he is told
in Imprint leaves him with more questions than
answers and he insists on more details. He soon discovers that he would
have been better off to leave well enough alone.
Thoughts: Through the years I have become a big fan of Takashi Miike (Audition, Ichi the Killer, etc.). I do not agree with Showtime’s decision to ban Imprint. Yes, it is disturbing in places (typical Miike), and yes, it is overtly graphic in places (typical Miike) but this is horror and it was no more disturbing than Haeckel’s Tale or Jenifer. Takashi Miike is definitely a “Master of Horror” and Imprint is yet another example of his work that helps solidify that fact. Questions or comments about Imprint? Contact us!
