The Top 10 John Carpenter Films - You Should Watch These Horror Movies

John Carpenter MoviesOver the years I’ve probably assembled a good seven or eight “Best of John Carpenter” lists. I suppose I really can’t help myself, as I’m a tremendous fan of the man’s work, and discussing one of the finest filmmakers of our time never seems to lose sheen. What’s interesting is, I’d bet that if you tracked down some of my past articles, every single list would differ slightly; I consider that a sign of brilliance (not on my part), because it’s obviously a difficult feat for me to choose my genuine favorites when I hold so many of John’s features in such high regard.

Official Poster Lands for Juan Carlos Fresnadillo’s Intruders

IntrudersThe first official US poster for Juan Carlos Fresnadillo’s (28 Weeks Later) upcoming chiller, Intruders has officially landed, and it’s an eerie little gem. While not exactly a revealing piece of work, the poster certainly sends a bit of shiver down the spine; if I’m going to look at Clive Owen, I prefer to look at a fully featured Clive Owen, the whole absent feature aspect is a tad unsettling.

The Governor will be making his way to the television series.  He is sure to give Rick Grimes and his crew a lot of trouble.

Tom Savini wants the role of the Governor but he said that John Hawkes is the front runner for the role during a interview.

[Exclusive Interview] James Watkins, Director of The Woman in Black. What taboo does he break in the film.

James Watkins, Director of The Woman in BlackJames Watkins is the director of The Woman in Black, ghost-story horror in U.S. Theaters on Friday, February 3 2012. Watkins, 31, is at the beginning of his career as a filmmaker having mostly writing credits on his brief resume (My Little Eye, Gone, The Descent Part 2) and one directing credit (Eden Lake) but the impact of these films is strong, and he’s stepped directly into the Hammer Studios resurgence The Woman in Black. James talks with Don Sumner of Best-Horror-Movies.com in an exclusive interview, discussing the glory days of Hammer, working with Daniel Radcliffe in his first “non-Potter” role, and how to make a horror movie very scary by allowing the audience’s imagination to do much of the work.

Zombies in Africa 'The Dead' Gets DVD and Blu-ray Releas

The DeadThe first horror film entirely filmed in Africa, The Dead takes the zombie legend back to its original roots. Anchor Bay Entertainment will release The Dead on to DVD and Blu-ray February 14, 2012.  Nothing says love more than a zombie film in my opinion.  The Dead takes you on a visceral journey across the harsh but stunning landscapes of Africa, where the sole survivor of the doomed final evacuation flight out of the continent has more than just the unforgiving terrain to deal with.

From The Horror Czar:

I will never forget my introduction to Horror Movies. I was just a kid and we had the early version of Cable Television (Remember when there were 5 movie choices that played a hundred times a day?).

Anyway, Terror Train with Jamie Lee was one of the movies on, and I was FORBIDDEN to watch it by my slightly over-protective mother. But a man's gotta do....

I was glued to the screen, hunched close to the television speaker so that I could keep the volume low enough to avoid detection and swift punishment. I will never forget the first time I heard the queen scream! When the train ran over a victim's head, the popping sound it made about made MY head explode! (Did they use a melon?)

Of course, I had nightmares for a week, but I didn't care! I was hooked!

Since that day I couldn't get enough. I made myself nervous to swim in the ocean (and sometimes even the swimming pool) by watching Jaws, listened to the static on the T.V. for spectral voices after Poltergeist and stared in horrific wonder at strangers that walked funny after Night of the Living Dead. Of course, I also jumped at every suspicious sound or strange shadow after watching movies like Halloween and Friday the 13th.

What is the source of this strange attraction we have to Horror Movies? Are we facing and learning to handle the horrors of life without being in mortal jeopardy, or just escapaing from the pressures of the world? I address that in the book Horror Movie Freak, but for now... I'm good being scared and having fun.
