Japanese Ghosts Possess an American Couple

I saw this movie in the early 80's. In the plot an American couple get possessed by Japanese ghosts in a Japanese style home.

The movie started with a samurai killing a woman and a man in the house. I believe it was a love triangle.

Does anyone know the title?
