Lost Parents End Up in Tube of Green Goo

by Lexi
(Ohio, USA)

I remember watching this late '90s or early '2000s film where parents go out to eat or to a party, and on their way get lost in this weird town, and and one point they're in these tubes of green goo.

Any help would be great!

Lol I know, I finally found the trailer for it after you told me the name. I was so happy, you should have seen me. I was like a kid in a candy store, jumping up and down being all giddy. Thank you again.

I have identified this film a number of times from various clues, so it must be memorable~except for that title. I can understand people forgetting the title but not the green goo. *giggle*

Phantom Town (1999) starring John Patrick White, Taylor Locke, Jim Metzler, Belinda Montgomery

IMDb synopsis: When a teenage boy and his two young siblings set off on a quest to find their missing parents, their search leads them to a ghost town in the middle of the desert. They soon discover that this is no ordinary tourist spot. In fact, according to the maps, it doesn't exist at all! Finding their way into this mysterious place, the kids must confront the sinister force that dwells beneath it in order to rescue their parents and save themselves.

IMDb review excerpt: Mom and Dad never come home, so the kids track them down to a ghost town in some kind of time freeze; it's 1882 there. The town is full of alien cowboys who spit green goo, people wrapped in cocoons underground in catacombs, and strange symbols painted on walls. The ghost of a Native American shows up to help. The Western town set is good, and a handful of surprising effects (a mutant sheriff, a giant eye monster, an evil book that grows legs and runs) keep this watchable for younger horror fans, who are the target audience anyway.
