Man Cuts Off Own Arm To Avoid Being Pulled Into Hole

I'm looking for a horror movie title. The only scene I remember has two guys fighting and one swings a long metal cable and it wraps around the other guy's arm. They continue to fight and the one guy falls down a shaft or hole with the cable now digging into the guys arm that it wrapped around.

He reaches for an ax and cuts off his arm at the elbow and the next scene is him running away with whats left of his arm in a torch thats on fire to try to cauterize it.

I'm not sure if it was an actual horror movie or sci-fi.
