Man Dared To Spend the Night in 1800's Haunted House

This old horror movie is set Circa de 1800's.
A man is dropped off at a haunted mansion and locked in for the night on a dare. He has a night of ghostly encounters but successfully makes it to the next day when he is to be picked up.
At the end of the movie, he stands at the gate and laughs at his victory and swings the iron gate door wide. The gate swings back and kills him.
