Man Uses Flashlight to Break Through Wall and Escape Zombies

I saw a horror movie once, but now I don't remember the title. I think James Hong was in it, but I'm not sure.

People are hiding inside a building and they would look outside the window into the alley-way and see others standing on both sides waiting for them. One of them jumps down there but the alley people (I think they are zombies, or just crazy) run after him... but he climbs back inside the building.

In another part of the movie the zombies or whatever got inside the building and a man is trapped in a room with a flashlight, and he can hear the zombies in the next room. He breaks something and the zombies hear him, and they start breaking down the wall to get at him. The man uses his flashlight to break through the wall on the other side to get away.

That's all I remember of that movie. I saw it in the 80s. Does anyone know it?
