Monkey Creature Terrorizes Woman

Hey guys,

I saw a horror movie back in the early 80's on television. There was this monkey-like creature sent to a woman as a gift in box. She lets it out of the box and it runs around her house terrorizing her. By the end of the movie she is bitten and calls her mother I think, and is seen squatting on the floor pounding a knife in the floor waiting for her mother... she's developed sharp teeth like the creature.

Any ideas what movie this was?
