Not Quite The One

I actually think there was another movie that featured the same imagery.

Point 1: Suspiria was released in 1977. By then I was already 16 and much less likely to be as frightened as I was. The film I'm referring to must have been between 1968 and 1972.

Point 2: I distinctly recall the horror of watching Saturday morning cartoons, only to be assaulted by the trailer on a commercial break.

Point 3: The details are different. The trailer I'm referring to showed a young woman sitting at a dressing table, centered so you could not see her face. You could see nearly her entire body - she was dressed in lingerie and a gauzy gown.

Having seen this trailer, it seems to me that Suspiria virtually stole the idea from this earlier film.

It's the TV Preview for "SUSPIRIA". The scene doesn't actually appear in the movie itself, it was just the crazy promo they came up. It is included in the bonus materials on the SUSPIRIA DVD. And it was freaky.

I'm not sure about the trailer you referred to but if it is "Suspiria" than you shouldn't have difficulty finding it. It is available on VHS and DVD. You can buy it on Amazon, Ebay, or at Best Buy for that matter. My copy was put out by Anchor Bay. Especially cool because it also came with the soundtrack by Goblin.

Susperia

This film is called Susperia! It's about the evil that a young ballet student finds at her ballet boarding school.

I've never actually seen it myself, but I too remember that preview and it is definitely Susperia!

Now, obtaining it may be kind of hard since it's an old Italian film, but I'm pretty sure if you look around at video stores and places like that you'll be destined to find it!
